Mosiro Food Distribution
It is difficult to fathom how people survive in such a hostile environment. The dry and barren land with only scattered shrubs seems to demonstrate everything. This is a harsh place! Driving for hours on hot dusty roads we finally reached the community of Mosiro. The residents of Mosiro are settled far into the interior of Maasailand, isolated from the rest of the world, living on the only source of livelihood they know, cattle and goats. Unfortunately, the severe draught has taken away their only source of food as their livestock have perished.
“I had over 100 cows which have all died, I have only two remaining,” one of the local residents sadly said.
The residents will sell a cow or a goat and use the funds to purchase food and other essential needs. But now with their source of income gone, many residents go days without food.
“I have had many difficulties helping the people get some food,” Chief Simon Kesheako said. “I felt helpless when a woman came to me and said she and her children had not eaten anything for four days.” She had already sold her last goat.
You were an answer to the prayers of the residents of Mosiro. Through your generous support, they have received lifesaving food. They were so overjoyed when they saw the truck full of food arriving and coming to their rescue that they broke into song and dance. Over 300 people arrived in hopes of getting something to eat!
